Atlanta's first 'smart neighborhood' moves forward on the Westside

Plans are moving along for a 46-townhouse development that will flaunt all “the latest energy technologies.”

ATLANTA — Atlanta's first "smart neighborhood," a development of Georgia Power and PulteGroup, is moving forward in construction efforts, according to the Atlanta Business Chronicle.

Located in Atlanta's upper Westside, plans are moving along for a 46-townhouse development that will flaunt all “the latest energy technologies.”

Homes will feature solar panels, in-home battery energy storage, voice-activated security, smart locks, and lighting controlled from apps. Georgia Power (NYSE: GPJA) will then gather information from the homes to analyze and “provide insight into the effectiveness of emerging energy technologies," the Atlanta Business Chronicle reported.

The first phase of Altus at the Quarter will rise along Bolton Drive at Marietta Boulevard, and eventually, the 46 initial homes will be part of a much larger community on Bolton Road.
