ATLANTA — The temperature continues to climb this summer and, with it, so do gas prices.
According to AAA, Georgia pump prices rose another seven cents in the last week, bringing the total rise from a month ago to about 20 extra cents per gallon.
The state average, according to the organization, is now $2.67.
The insurer is tying the rise to higher demand through the summer driving season.
"Georgia gas prices continue upward trend,” said Montrae Waiters, spokeswoman, AAA – The Auto Club Group. “If stocks continue to decrease as demand remains robust, pump prices will likely continue to rise throughout the week.”
The most expensive gas in the state is around Atlanta. Fulton County is Georgia’s most expensive county for gas, averaging north of $2.80 a gallon. At a roughly $2.41 per gallon average, Dodge County in south Georgia has the state’s cheapest gas, according to AAA.
According to GasBuddy.com, the cheapest gas in the Atlanta metro area can be found in Woodstock, where both the Sam’s Club at 9464 Main St. and the Costco at 113 Lincoln St. both currently have gas available for $2.44 a gallon.
