Accident on Austell Road leaves young man critically injured

The victim was thrown off his motorcycle after hitting a car attempting to turn.

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — A 21-year-old man is recovering from critically injuries involving a car and the motorcycle he was riding in Cobb County, Wednesday.

Police said that the accident happened just before 1 p.m. near the intersection of Austell and Pair roads.

Cobb County Police said that when officers arrived they saw a black Honda CBR250 that had crashed into a black Dodge Avenger. Officers were told that the driver of the Dodge, 68-year-old Sandra Ware, was stopped in the left turn lane. 

The Honda involved, driven by 21-year-old Quincy Ochoa, was traveling south on Austell Road. A preliminary investigation suggests Ware had attempted to turn left into Ochoa's path. Ochoa accidentally smashed into the front right side of Ware's car. This collision Ochoa from his Honda and onto the windshield of the Dodge he hit. 

Ochoa was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital for treatment of injuries police described as serious. They have not released an update on his condition. Ware also received minor injuries and was taken to Wellstar Cobb Hospital.

The crash is still under investigation and anyone with helpful information is asked to contact the Cobb County Police Department at 770-499-3987.
