Burglars startled when resident calls from indoor home security camera

The resident told 11Alive he received an alert on his phone that the security camera was activated in his bedroom.

BROOKHAVEN, Ga. — A Brookhaven resident was shocked to see someone breaking into his apartment.

According to the Brookhaven Police report, the resident told officers his roommate saw two people breaking into the apartment though an indoor camera. It happened over the weekend at an apartment complex on Northeast Expressway. 

The resident told 11Alive he received an alert on his phone that the security camera was activated in his bedroom. That's when he says he saw two people rummaging though his things.

11Alive obtained a copy of the video, where a man can be seen walking into the room with a gun in his hand. A second man also walks in. They go through drawers, the closet, and bags. You can clearly see and hear the men as they continue to go though the bedroom. 

Then, all of a sudden, the men are startled as the resident calls through the camera. The suspects take off.

The incident report said some of the items reported missing from the apartment were cell phones, a laptop, a wallet, and other belongings.
