College Park Police unveil new headquarters

The ribbon cutting ceremony honored College Park's first African-American police officers.

COLLEGE PARK, Ga. — College Park unveiled the newest police precinct in honor of historical police figures on Tuesday. 

The City of College Park and the College Park Police Department cut the ribbon to the new Thompson Booker Dollar Memorial Precinct at 2330 Godby Rd. The $2.2 million facility will stand at the city’s newest precinct on the Southside. 

Officers Roy Thompson, James L. Booker and Creflo Dollar, Sr. were the first black officers on the College Park police force.

Distinguished members from the College Park City Council and the Police Department were in attendance for the event. Mayor Jack Longino, Deputy Chief of Police Sharis McCrary as well as local councilmen Tracey Wyatt (Ward III), Ambrose Clay (Ward I), Derrick Taylor (Ward II) and Roderick Gay (Ward IV), were all on site to inaugurate the new station.

Key individuals from the families of Thompson, Booker and Dollar were also there to pay homage, some traveling hundreds of miles to pay respects to their respective family members.
