ATHENS, Ga. -- Officials in Athens said a 19-year-old man was taken into custody in connection with the stabbing death of his brother Friday night.
Athens-Clarke County Police said they were called out to an address in the 100 block of Cumberland Court in response to reports of two people stabbed at about 5:45 p.m. Friday.
When they arrived, officers discovered a 29-year-old man suffering from several stab wounds. EMTs, arriving at the same time as officers attempted to resuscitate him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. He was later identified by police as Muniyr Gay.
They also found 54-year-old woman, identified as Dale Dorns. She told officers that when she found her 19-year-old son stabbing his brother. She said she tried to intervene and was also stabbed. She was transported to Piedmont Regional Hospital in Athens for treatment. Police said she is expected to recover from her injuries.
Before police arrived at the scene, the 19-year-old had left in a Jeep. Officers discovered the Jeep a short time later at Southeast Clarke Park and arrested Malik Dorn without incident.
