2 hurt in northwest Atlanta shooting, gunman remains at large

The two shooting victims were transported to a local hospital in stable condition. Police are still looking for the suspect.

Atlanta police responded to an Sunday around 4:25 a.m., at the corner of Joseph E. Boone Boulevard and Chappel Road, and discovered two men injured from gunshot wounds. A third man is being sought for the shooting.

According to Atlanta Police Officer S.R. Brown, a 34-year-old man got into a physical altercation with the suspect outside the Pick 'N Pay store at that intersection. The suspect began to fire a weapon at the victim, striking him in the right hip.

The second shooting victim, described by police as a 51-year-old man, was inside the store. When he observed the shots being fired, investigators said, he came outside and began firing shots himself, not striking anything or anyone. Police said that man was struck in the right leg.

Both men were taken to a local hospital in stable condition.

The shooting suspect was described as a black male between 25 and 30 years old. He was wearing dark colored pants, red shoes and a red Alabama sweat shirt.

The police investigation is continuing.
