GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Three people from North Carolina were busted in Georgia with nearly 70 pounds of marijuana, authorities said.
According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, their agents and Georgia State Patrol troopers arrested 34-year-old Phetprasong Souriyo, 28-year-old Brandy Souriyo, and 30-year-old Somphone Thongkhamdy - all of Charlotte - on June 11.
The three were pulled over in a traffic stop near the Hamilton Mill Road exit on I-85 in Gwinnett County. Authorities said they seized the drugs, which are street valued at more than $200,000.
GBI said the arrests come as part of an ongoing investigation into marijuana trafficking along the I-85 corridor.
