3-year-old found dead, mom's boyfriend arrested

A 3-year-old boy was found dead inside a Forsyth County house Tuesday. His mother's boyfriend has since been arrested.

FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. -- A 3-year-old boy was found dead inside a Forsyth County house Tuesday morning.

The child's body was found shortly before 11 a.m. in the Bridgetowne subdivision off Browns Bridge Road in Cumming.

Doug Rainwater of the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office said investigators believe 25-year-old Christopher E. Truett, who was supposed to be watching the little boy, called the child's mother and said that something was wrong with the child. He also called 911, according to 911.

The mother, Dawn Schutts, rushed home, found the child and called 911.

At that point, Truett fled. More than three dozen officers searched a wooded area and found him. He was then taken into custody and charged with cruelty to children and reckless conduct. Rainwater said more charges are pending the outcome of an autopsy.

Police believe Truett is Schutts' boyfriend.

No details have been released about the child's cause of death. Police said they do consider the death "suspicious."

Friends and neighbors held a candlelight vigil on Tuesday night to remember the boy they knew as Wyatt.
