A 25-year-old Athens man has been charged in the murder of Walter James Brown Jr., who was found shot several times outside a home on Oak Hill Drive.
Davonte Jamal Brown, who is not a blood relative of the victim, has been transported to Clarke County Jail on malice murder charges.
Police have also issued an arrest warrant for Ralph Lee Bess, a 29-year-old Athens man. He is also facing murder charges in Brown's death. anyone who knows where he is should contact 911.
Police said the shooting happened around 8:40 a.m. Monday. Officers found Brown on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. Police officers tried to help stabilize him until paramedics arrived. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
