ATLANTA — Police say a woman was shot Monday after she lunged at Atlanta officers with a knife.

The incident happened on Eleanor Terrace NW in the Collier Heights neighborhood of west Atlanta.

Atlanta Police said officers responded to a location around 9:20 a.m. to a report of a person stabbed.

"When officers arrived they found a woman at the residence who was armed with a knife and had cut herself," a statement said. "Officers attempted to talk to the woman and deescalate the situation but she was not cooperative."

Police said the officers tried to use a Taser on the woman but were unsuccessful.

"Eventually the woman lunged at officers and was shot one time," a statement said.

The woman was taken to Grady Hospital in stable condition. Atlanta Police said no officers were injured.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating the incident, one of two officer-involved shootings in Atlanta on Monday.
