Authorities search for convict who escaped transitional center

Authorities need help finding 26-year-old Cameron Ryan Lewis. However, they warn the public not to approach him.

ATLANTA — State officials are asking for help finding a missing inmate who recently escaped from a transitional center in Atlanta.

The Georgia Department of Corrections released a notice on Sunday that 26-year-old Cameron Ryan Lewis had absconded from the Atlanta Transitional Center.

He is described as a black male who is about 5 feet 5 inches tall and 115 pounds with brown eyes and black hair.

His record with the GDC spans multiple burglary and burglary attempt charges from 2010 to 2014. At the time that he left the facility, records suggest he was serving a 15 year sentence.

While authorities need help finding him, they ask that no one approach him. Instead, those who have information on his whereabouts is asked to call 478-992-5111 or email gdc.ciu@gdc.ga.gov.
