Baby found safe after car stolen with 11-month-old inside

Investigators are still looking for more information in the case.

ATHENS-CLARKE COUNTY, Ga. — A mom's worst nightmare came to life when her car was stolen with her baby inside of it over the weekend.

Fortunately, Athens-Clarke County Police said they found the baby unharmed.

On Sunday around 7:13 p.m., police were called to a home on Windy Hill Place for a vehicle theft and kidnapping called.

The 22-year-old mother told police her 2001 Ford Taurus was stolen from the driveway and her 11-*month old daughter was in her car seat in the backseat.

Authorities notified other counties about the crime and they begin searching the area. The car was located in a shopping center's parking lot on Epps Bridge Road in Oconee County

Police said they found the child in her car seat which was still in the vehicle and she appeared unharmed.

Investigators are still looking for more information in the case.
