ATLANTA – A 13-year-old is in the hospital after a Saturday altercation ended in at least one gunshot fired.
At approximately 11:34 p.m., Atlanta Police responded to 3041 Landrum Dr., SW, for a person shot, said Atlanta Police officer, Jarius Daughtery.
When officers arrived on the scene, they were unable to locate a gunshot wounded victim.
The 911 caller told police that the teenaged victim had already been transported to the hospital by family members.
Witnesses at the scene, an apartment complex, told officers that the suspected shooter lived in one of the apartments on the premises.
They also advised police that the shooting was likely the result of an argument from earlier in the day, between Ryan Johnson, 39, and the 13-year-old victim.
Police found the suspect just outside his apartment, and they took him into custody without incident.
Additional APD officers responded to the hospital and located the 13-year-old male with one gunshot wound to the abdomen. As of Sunday afternoon, he remains in stable condition, police say.
Johnson has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, criminal damage to property in the second degree and reckless conduct.
The investigation is ongoing.
