Brothers accused of ambushing officer, taking his weapon indicted

The attack happened at a gas station at the corner of Campbellton and County Line roads in southwest Atlanta on June 8.

ATLANTA — The two brothers accused of ambushing and attacking an Atlanta Police officer have been formally charged in the case.

Authorities tell 11Alive Isaac Dion McPherson and Quentin McPherson were indicted June 18 for aggravated assault against an officer, robbery by force, removal of a weapon from a public official, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, simple battery against police and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The attack happened at a gas station at the corner of Campbellton and County Line Roads in southwest Atlanta on June 8. 

The officer was initially called to the location for a disturbance call. When he arrived, the officer found one of the people allegedly involved in the incident in an altercation with the clerk, police said. 

The officer ended up in a struggle of his own as he attempted to break up the melee.

The indictment alleges the officer was assaulted by the two and his firearm was taken during the encounter. He suffered minor injuries, police said.
