Bus driver thwarts man's attempt to lure children at bus stop

The man reportedly called out to the two children to get them to get into his vehicle - even apparently calling them by their names.

Police are looking for a man who reportedly tried to lure two children off a bus by calling their names, but a bus driver's instincts kept them safe from possible harm.

According to the Jefferson Police Department, the bus driver made the regular stop at Jett Roberts Road Dec. 11 to drop off two siblings. But when they got there, police said a gray four-door car, being driving by a balding white man with gray hair, was parked close by.

The man reportedly called out to the two children to get them to get into his vehicle - even apparently calling them by their names. The bus driver, however, did not recognize the vehicle and thought the situation was unusual, and became concerned when the children said they didn't know the man, either.

The bus driver kept the children on the bus and instead called their mother, who said she did not send anyone to the bus stop to pick up her kids. Shortly after, the vehicle drove off.

Investigators reviewed video from the bus' camera, and were able to pull an image featuring the car in question.

They are now asking the public to keep an eye out for any vehicles that match their description, especially if it's seen driving slowly though neighborhoods or parked near any school bus stops.
