Cartersville Police said they arrested a man on numerous charges after they found him prowling near an area of closed businesses in the early morning hours of August 16.
Authorities said Brandon Sewell was wearing dark clothing around 3 a.m.
When officers tried to make contact with Sewell, he fled on a bicycle, then ran off. He was found by officers while hiding in a thick patch of kudzu, and placed under arrest.
The bicycle that Sewell was on was found to be stolen, police said. Officers were able to determine that he was wanted in connection with multiple thefts and other crimes in the city. They said this enabled them to close several open cases.
Through inter-jurisdictional contacts, other departments have been able to provide links to other crimes that Sewell may be connected to.
At present, the Cartersville Police Department is holding Sewell on two counts of shoplifting, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug-related objects, resisting arrest, loitering and prowling, possession of criminal tools.
