Cobb County crash after chase leaves driver in serious condition

The accident happened near the intersection of Six Flags Parkway and Hillcrest Drive.

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — A driver is in serious condition following a chase and crash in Cobb County.

The accident happened in the area of Six Flags Parkway and Hillcrest Drive after the driver hit a tree. A spokesperson for the Cobb County Police Department said that, based on initial information, the suspect had apparently attempted to escape after officers attempted a traffic stop.

Video from the scene showed several Cobb County Police vehicles surrounding a white sedan with heavy damage and most of the roof ripped off in the crash.

The driver has since been taken to Grady Memorial Hospital. Police said there were no passengers in the vehicle. Police haven't identified the driver or what new charges the driver could face. However, police believe the vehicle was stolen.

The investigation is ongoing.
