MARIETTA, Ga. — Two alleged gang members accused of selling meth are off the street after they were arrested by Marietta Police.
According to investigators, two officers were on patrol April 29 when they made a stop at a Delk Road Motel 6.
Officers said 38-year-old Jason Douglas of Lookout Mountain, Georgia and 40-year-old Laura Abbott of Rising Fawn, Georgia were hanging out near the motel lobby. When the officers got closer to them, they saw that they had "multiple Ghost Face gang identifiers" and began a conversation with the two.
Police said the conversation started out "consensual," until they discovered that Douglas had an outstanding warrant for parole violation. That's when officials said a brief scuffle broke out while they tried to handcuff Douglas. That struggle, police said, apparently shook loose 40 grams of meth, which police said had a street value of about $3,000.
Meanwhile, police said Abbott tied to destroy evidence - that ultimately led to her arrest, as well.
Police said Douglas ultimately admitted to the the officers he is the active statewide coordinator for the Ghost Face Gangsters gang.
Both Douglas and Abbott were taken to the Cobb County Adult Detention Center and charged with the following:
- Jason Douglas - Obstruction of Law Enforcement, Trafficking Methamphetamine and Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention, Criminal Gang Activity
- Laura Abbott - Tampering with Evidence, Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention, Criminal Gang Activity
