Convicted drug trafficker sentenced to 35 years in prison only to serve 18

On Sept. 5, he was sentenced to 35 years, with 18 years to serve in prison and the rest on probation.

COBB COUNTY, Ga. – A man will face 18 years in prison after being convicted of trafficking drugs in north Cobb County.

On Aug. 17 after a week-long trial, a Cobb County jury convicted 28-year-old Janmike Mosley of trafficking cocaine, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, and two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

In late 2016, narcotics agents with the Marietta-Cobb-Smyrna Task Force learned Mosley was supplying heroin, cocaine, and meth to a “large customer base” in the Kennesaw and Acworth areas, according to a release from the District Attorney’s office.

A search warrant was executed for a home on Creel Court where agents found “trafficking amounts” of cocaine, large amounts of marijuana, and a small amount of methamphetamine as well as an AR 15-style rifle and pistol grip shotgun, the release said.

“The defendant is a dangerous repeat offender who not only trafficked narcotics, he was armed. He was prepared to act violently to defend his business and lifestyle, according to his social media,” said Deputy Chief ADA Jason Saliba.

On Sept. 5, Cobb County Judge Joyette Holmes sentenced Mosely to 35 years, with 18 years to serve in prison and the rest on probation. Mosely was also fined $100,000, according to the release.

Mosely has prior convictions in Cobb County for felony theft by receiving and firearms possession by a felon, the DA said. He is also charged in Fulton County with armed robbery, violation of Georgia controlled substances act, and aggravated assault on a police officer.
