Coweta County mother faces murder charges in connection to her 2-year-old child's death

Investigators have not yet released an exact cause of death for the child, nor the extent of the child's injuries.

COWETA COUNTY, Ga. — A 23-year-old mother is behind bars facing murder charges in the death of her 2-year-old child, authorities say.

According to the Coweta County Sheriff's Office, Trinity Pittman faces charges of felony murder and first degree child cruelty in connection to the case.

Authorities say the 2-year-old was rushed to Piedmont Newnan Hospital Friday night before being transferred to Egleston Children's Hosptial where doctors tried to save the child's life. However, authorities say the child died.

Investigators have not yet released an exact cause of death for the child, nor the extent of the child's injuries, but authorities with the sheriff's office says Pittman reportedly confessed to hurting the child.

Pittman is now being held without bond in the Coweta County Jail, though authorities say more charges could be pending.

The investigation remains ongoing.
