ATLANTA — Police in Michigan are asking for help in Atlanta to locate a “dangerous fugitive” who has been named a person of interest in a double homicide in Grand Rapids. Detectives said they have received credible information that the man, Darrell Demon Brown, could have traveled to Atlanta.
Brown, 45, is considered a person of interest in the murder of two women, 47-year-old Cherletta Baber-Bay and 25-year-old Keyona Griffin. Grand Rapids Police said officers were called to a home for an unknown medical call and found the two women inside. Brown lived at the same home where the two women were found shot to death, and investigators said Brown and Baber-Bey were in a relationship prior to her murder.

Brown has not been officially charged in the women’s deaths, but investigators said he has not been seen or heard from since the bodies were discovered.
Nearly two months later, a memorial still stands in front of the home. Tia Jackson, Griffin's best friend, said she still can't wrap her head around what happened.
"For her to die like that, people don't believe it. I don't believe it," Jackson said.
She said she doesn't have any doubts that Brown was the one who killed Griffin, though police still aren't calling Brown a suspect in the murders. Jackson said she wants justice for her friend and hopes anyone who sees Brown will turn him in.
"They might as well give him up. Ain't no hiding that. He's gonna get his, whether he wants it or not, because karma is crazy," she said.
Authorities believe Brown has strong family ties to Atlanta, where they think he may be hiding out. They have released a mugshot of him from a 2005 domestic violence arrest in order to help people identify him. Police say he was accused of assaulting his girlfriend at the time.

Brown is described as African-American, 5’8” and about 180 pounds. He has used a number of aliases in his past, including:
- Darryl Robinson
- Carter Brown
- Derrick Brown
- Michael Richardson
- Marcus Wright
- “Jay”
Anyone with information on Brown’s whereabouts is asking to call 911 or visit silentobserver.org to submit a tip to police.
