Man killed during Thanksgiving visit in Gwinnett identified

The victim was rushed to the hospital but ultimately died of his injuries.

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — A man who was was murdered while allegedly visiting with friends and family for Thanksgiving has been identified by Gwinnett County Police.

Police said that 30-year-old Benedicto Granados of Lawrenceville was found with a gunshot wound to the upper body when first responders arrived on the 5400 block of Barnaby Court around 3 a.m. on Friday.

Gwinnett Fire and Emergency Services took Granados to an area hospital for treatment but he was soon pronounced dead.  Authorities initially withheld the victim's name as they attempted to notify his family.

Police are still working to identify the motive and any possible suspects in the crime. Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Gwinnett Police at 770-513-5300. Tipsters can also call Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477 (TIPS) to remain anonymous.
