GSU student killed in shooting at Atlanta apartment complex, officials say

Officers said the shooting happened at 521 Hank Aaron Drive in the Summerhill neighborhood.

ATLANTA — One person died in a shooting at an apartment complex near Georgia State's stadium Monday evening, according to Atlanta Police. The victim, according to officials, was a transfer student.

The medical examiner's office identified him as 22-year-old David Minor.

Officers said the shooting happened at 521 Hank Aaron Drive in the Summerhill neighborhood just after 7 p.m. The apartment complex is home to many college students in the area. One GSU student who said he lives at the complex said he heard two gunshots Monday evening.

11Alive did see police presence from APD and GSU at the scene.  In a statement, APD officers said they found an unresponsive man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.

GSU officials confirmed Minor was a transfer student and attended the school in the spring semester.

APD said the investigation is ongoing and they are still working to determine what led to the shooting.
