Trevor Cameron Brinson was initially charged with aggravated assault but later charged with murder months later when the victim died.

DECATUR, Ga. — Detectives believe Trevor Brinson was the main suspect in a shooting that left another man near death in October 2018.

It happened in the 3900 block of Lehigh Boulevard after Brinson and the victim, Joshua Stripling, got into an argument. Brinson was charged with aggravated assault after he allegedly shot his victim several times.

But with Stripling's death months later came a new charge of murder - and a need to find him quickly.  The DeKalb County Sheriff's Office reported that he made bond after the previous charge and had been out of their custody.  Their group was then tasked with tracking him down.

The felony murder warrant was issued on Jan. 23. By Feb. 6, the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office Fugitive Unit had located and arrested Brinson during a traffic stop in Jonesboro, Georgia.

Both Jonesboro and Clayton County police helped in the response.  Brinson is now back in a DeKalb County jail cell where making bond will likely be more difficult the second time around.
