Kroger employee, accomplice accused of stealing 100+ customers' personal information

Investigators are asking anyone who has shopped at the Kroger on Salem Road in Covington and believes their information may have been compromised to contact investigators.

COVINGTON, Ga. — Investigators say there could be dozens of victims of a former Kroger employee accused of stealing customer's information, and they're asking them to come forward.

The Newton County Sheriff’s Office said their investigation led detectives to photos and videos of over 100 customer's sensitive information on Desmeiyon Brianna Meadows' phone.

Deputies arrested Meadows on identity fraud and forgery charges stemming from an investigation prompted by a Loss Prevention officer's call to authorities.

According to investigators, an audit was performed on Meadows' previous transactions, and that's where it was discovered that she and an unknown male accomplice had been making fraudulent transactions since April.

Surveillance video shows the male accomplice deputies are still searching for.

Investigators obtained a search warrant during Meadows' arrest to search her phone. That's where deputies allegedly discovered pictures and videos of debit cards, checks, driver's licenses and social security numbers from over 100 different individuals.

Investigators are now asking anyone who has shopped at the Kroger at 3700 Salem Road in Covington, and believes their information may have been compromised, to contact their fraud tip line at FraudTips@newtownsheriffga.org.
