Death penalty trial continues for 'evil stepmother' charged with murdering child

Moss and her husband Eman Moss are accused of starving the girl before burning her body and stuffing it into a plastic bag and into a metal trash can.

We are in the third day of testimony in the Tiffany Moss death penalty trial. She's the woman accused of killing her 10-year-old stepdaughter in 2013.

Moss and her husband Eman Moss are accused of starving the girl before burning her body and stuffing it into a plastic bag and into a metal trash can.

Emani Moss was 10-years-old when she died but she weighed the same as a toddler.

The testimony started Wednesday in Gwinnett County and the state has called several witnesses. Experts, law enforcement, a former teacher of Emani's and family members have taken the stand to testify.

On Friday, the medical examiner testified. Jurors silently cried as they viewed the pictures of Emani Moss' emaciated and burned body.

After the final witness, the state decided to rest its case, and no questions came from Tiffany Moss.

She is representing herself in the trial and if she's convicted, she faces the death penalty.

In a plea deal, Eman Moss avoided the death penalty and now is in prison for life without the possibility of parole. Eman testified for more than an hour Thursday.

He painted a devastating picture of the last days of Emani's life and the desperate attempt to cover up what happened.

Tiffany Moss refused a plea deal and is facing six counts of murder and concealing a death along with felony murder and first-degree cruelty to children.

If convicted, Tiffany Moss faces 3 possible sentences:

  • Death penalty
  • Life in prison without parole
  • Life in prison with the possibility of parole

If sentenced to death, Moss would be just the third woman executed in Georgia.
