GRANTVILLE, Ga. — What started as a traffic stop for alleged speeding led authorities to a shocking discovery - nearly eight pounds of meth hidden in the car's trunk.

It was July 26 when Grantville Police said 22-year-old John Anthony Estrade was riding with 41-year-old Shanna Necole Edward along I-85 when police clocked them driving 11 mph over the speed limit. The couple claimed to be on their way to Panama City Beach, Florida.

Grantville Police reportedly smelled marijuana wafting from the car during the stop, and decided to search the car. Officers reportedly found a small amount of methamphetamine, a meth pipe, a small amount of marijuana and $3,200 in cash.

The police then opened the trunk to find a suitcase, where eight pounds of methamphetamine was reportedly stashed.

Authorities arrested Edward for possession of marijuana. Estrade was charged with methamphetamine trafficking and speeding.

Both are in the Coweta County Jail.
