Atlanta Police said a 30-year-old man was found near the intersection of University Avenue and Metropolitan Parkway late Friday night.
Investigators said they responded to a 911 call from the area of the Capitol View Apartments at about 11 p.m.
According to Atlanta Police Captain William Ricker, several shell casings were found in the area.
Witnesses told officers that people were shooting near the building.
Investigators are attempting to determine how the victim, Desmond Finch, was involved in the incident along with descriptions of potential suspects in the incident.

Crime Stoppers tipsters may remain anonymous and may qualify for a reward for information leading to an arrest and indictment in the case.
