Police: Man shot in head, chest on I-85 northbound

Here's what we know.

ATLANTA — Atlanta Police are investigating a shooting that occurred on I-85 near Georgia 400 northbound.

Police told 11Alive that a man was shot in the head and chest.

They said the driver told them he was traveling along I-85 early Friday morning when someone in another car pulled up beside him and shot him.

Officers said the shooting happened around 2:30 a.m. near Ga-400 and the North Druid Hills exit. They found the driver on the shoulder of the northbound lanes.

The car, they add, had about six bullet holes and the driver's window appeared to be shattered.

This is the second shooting of a driver along I-85 in the last month. A man was shot and killed on the interstate near mile marker 144 almost a month ago.

Meanwhile, police said the victim in this most recent shooting remains at the hospital in stable condition.

Authorities are still asking anyone with information to contact them.
