Mother charged with murder in death of 3-year-old son; boyfriend wanted

TROUP COUNTY, Ga. — A mother has been charged in the death of her 3-year-old son two years ago, Hogansville Police announced Wednesday.

Authorities said 24-year-old Keshuna Harris of LaGrange was arrested on Monday. She faces three charges, including felony murder.

Her boyfriend, 24-year-old Dexter Parks, also of LaGrange, faces the same charges and is wanted by police.

Authorities Harris’ toddler son JaReginal was unresponsive when he was brought him to the hopsital on the morning of May 6 ,2017. Attempts to revive the child were unsuccessful.

According to police, family members told investigators at the time that they discovered the child unconscious in his bed.

Police said the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office made a determination in the child’s death in January 2018, and that the Hogansville Police Department, Troup County District Attorney’s Office and other agencies have investigated the death since then.

Arrest warrants were issued last Friday.

Police did not detail how the investigation progressed over roughly 18 months.
