A man wanted for questioning in a Florida homicide is in jail in metro Atlanta - and facing possible extradition

The Clayton County Sheriff's Office reported that Christopher Theadous Armond Odoms Rankine was tied to a drug-related homicide in Pensacola, Florida. The Clayton County Sheriff's Office said he allegedly shot a man and left him to die after throwing him from a car - though officials in Escambia County only said he was wanted for questioning at the time of the shooting.

That murder apparently happened on Dec. 12 in Escambia County, Florida. At some point, investigators believed Rankine had escaped to the north and thought he was hiding in Georgia's capital.

"Odoms thought he was seeking refuge in Atlanta, but hid about two miles across the line bordering into Clayton County in the Conley area," the sheriff's office said in a statement.

As such, he was in the territory of the Clayton County Elite Fugitive Squad - and the county SWAT team.  Soon, he was also in their custody.

It's still unclear if Odoms will waive extradition back to Florida; though, the search for him began there. For now, he'll sit in the Clayton County Jail.
