Police identify man struck, killed by vehicle in what started as 'shots fired' call

They say the case is being investigated as a homicide and that the investigation is ongoing.

ATLANTA — Atlanta Police have identified the man killed Sunday in southwest Atlanta after being struck by a vehicle in what police called a hit and run.

Police spokesperson Marla Rooker said that around noon on Sunday, police responded to the 700 block of Garibaldi Street in reference to gunfire. Upon arriving at the scene, police found TyDrecko Lee dead. Police believe he was intentionally hit.

Lee was hit by a Jeep Wrangler whose occupants fled the scene, police said. The Wrangler also struck other vehicles along Garibaldi Street. 

Gunfire also damaged two other vehicles. 

Police say the case is being investigated as a homicide and that the investigation is ongoing.
