ATLANTA — After a foot chase and a struggle, officers managed to take a robbery suspect into custody at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, Monday.
According to Atlanta Police, officers assigned to the airport responded to a call about a strong-arm robbery of a vehicle. When they arrived, the suspect had already run away after unsuccessfully attempting to take the car.
Police said they located the man, 37-year-old Richard Parham, Jr., still near the south parking deck. However, when they confronted Parham, they said he snatched a purse from a Delta Air Lines passenger. He took off running again and officers lost sight of him.
They established a perimeter with other Atlanta Police officers who were in the area.
Authorities said they found Parham hiding in the bed of a pickup truck that was in the south parking deck. He was taken into custody after a short struggle.
Parham was charged with entering auto, criminal damage to property, battery, strong-arm robbery, obstruction, and criminal attempt to commit theft by taking (auto). He was taken to the Clayton County jail.
