ATLANTA — A man was killed in an apparent shootout at an apartment complex not far from Greenbriar Mall in southwest Atlanta late Tuesday, police said.
Officers responded to a call regarding a person shot in the 3100 block of Campbellton Road SW at about 10:45 p.m. When they arrived, officers discovered a man with an apparent gunshot wound to the chest.
He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in downtown Atlanta, where he was pronounced dead.
According to investigators, the victim apparently entered an apartment complex with another male.
At some point during the incident, both individuals pulled out guns and shot at each other. The victim was struck, resulting in his injuries.
The suspect left the scene.
Investigators are working to determine the circumstances behind the shooting.
