Police: Suspect lured QuikStop employee out by spilling a drink, then robbed store at gunpoint

Investigators said the suspect took a total of about $1,300 and a carton of Newport cigarettes before he left.

ATLANTA — Atlanta Police are looking for a suspect in connection with an armed robbery at a convenience store early Monday morning on Metropolitan Parkway.

Investigators said it happened at the QuikStop Food Mart in the 1220 block of Metropolitan Parkway. They said the suspect spilled a drink inside the store, possibly in order to lure the clerk out from the glass partitioned booth.

When the clerk came from inside the booth to clean the spill, police said, the suspect pointed a gun the clerk's head and took about $600 from the register.

Investigators said the suspect also took a separate box containing about $700 as well as a carton of Newport cigarettes before he left the convenience store.

The clerk was not hurt in the incident.
