Police: Suspected drive-by in Atlanta ends with victim shot in rear

Police said the victim was alert, conscious and breathing when he was taken to the hospital.

ATLANTA -- Atlanta police are searching for a person who allegedly opened fire on a man in Atlanta during what police believe was a drive-by shooting.

The incident happened Saturday evening around 7:15 p.m. in the 200 block of Cleveland Avenue SW. Police arrived to find a male victim with what they described as "an apparent gunshot wound to the rear."

Investigators believe a vehicle approached the victim and someone inside fired shots at him. Despite the injury, police said the victim was "alert conscious and breathing when he was taken to the hospital."
