Road rage possible motive for shooting in west Atlanta

The victim wasn't particularly cooperative with police, but officers said witnesses suggested a motive for the crime.

ATLANTA — A victim is recovering at Grady Memorial Hospital from a gunshot wound to the hip after police say he was shot on Saturday afternoon.

Around 5:30 p.m., officers responded to Dale Creek Drive to reports of a person shot.  They arrived to find the victim who was described by officers as "alert, conscious and breathing."

He told police the shooting happened at Whitaker and Norfolk streets but provided few other details regarding the crime. Speaking with witnesses in Atlanta's Bankhead community, police learned that the shooting was possibly the result of road rage.

Police haven't released any information on a possible suspect in the crime - or if they've identified anyone else tied to it at all. The victim's name was not released.

Police are still investigating the crime and the details surrounding it.
