HOSCHTON, Ga. — Gwinnett County Public School officials sent out a letter Tuesday to inform parents of their plans to limit Mill Creek High School students' access to outdoor areas. This comes after a threat was made against three Mill Creek High School students on Instagram.
“As you know, our school building is contained for the most part so we will be limiting student access to the parking lot and outside lunch area until this matter is resolved,” said Lane.
“In addition, we will have our SROs and parking lot attendants monitoring the parking lot after school.”
Principal Jane Lane wrote, “We have contacted our schools Resource Officers and they are actively investigating this situation.”
Lane said the person who made the post did not threaten the school directly, but the school is taking this extra precaution. The school said law enforcement intends to talk to the person that made the post.
School officials said their number one priority at Mill Creek is safety.
Gwinnett County Public Schools and the FBI recently launched a new campaign to combat school threats online -- the first of its kind of in Georgia.
