CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — Police were responding to a "shots fired" call but found a far worse scenario when they arrived at the 1700 block of Old Dogwood Road in Clayton County, Sunday.

Officers were called to the area regarding a report of someone firing a gun. It wasn't until they canvassed the area that they learned that the shots weren't just random - they ultimately hit someone.

The victim, who was not named and only described in slight detail by police, was already unresponsive when officers arrived. Despite that, Clayton County Emergency Medical Services paramedics attempted to save him and find a pulse.

The victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment but eventually died from his injuries.  Police haven't released many details on the case or whether they have a suspect in custody - or in mind.

Anyone who does have information on the incident that claimed a man's life that day is asked to call Clayton County police.
