Student charged after bringing knives to Dunwoody High School

DUNWOODY, Ga. -- A high school student was arrested after brining knives on school grounds Thursday. The incident happened at Dunwoody High School and school officials said the they received the information in a tip.

The knives were found in the student's car that was parked on campus. In a letter to parents, Dunwoody High School Principal Priscilla Cole said, "Upon receiving the information, we immediately searched the student’s car and found several knives."

They said the knives were never brought into the school and also said there were no threats made by the student.

According to the school, "proper protocols were followed and the knives were taken into custody." Adding, "This action is a violation of law."

The student will reportedly be disciplined based on school board policy. Possible consequences include expulsion, suspension, community service, etc.

"Rest assured that our school is committed to ensure the safety of all students and staff. We will continue to be vigilant and take the necessary actions when safety concerns are brought to our attention," the letter read.
