Substitute teacher, ambulance driver charged with child molestation, other sex crimes

He is charged with child molestation, enticing a child for indecent purposes, child pornography, among others

BARTOW COUNTY, Ga. — The Bartow County Sheriff's Office arrested a substitute teacher and ambulance driver with multiple sex crimes against children, including molestation. 

Bryan Somers, 40, of Cartersville, was arrested following a joint investigation from a tip provided by the Polk County Police Department, the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office, Homeland Security Investigations and the Georgia Bureau of Investigations, according to Sheriff Clark Millsap.

Somers was a Metro Ambulance EMT in Bartow County as well as a substitute teacher for the Bartow County School System. He is reported to have substituted predominately at Emerson Elementary School.

The school system announced on Friday that Somers was immediately terminated as a substitute teacher following notification of this arrest.

"He is no longer eligible to obtain employment opportunities with the school system moving forward," a spokesperson for Bartow County Schools said.

Somers is charged with four counts of child molestation, two counts of enticing a child for indecent purposes, one count of possession of child pornography and three counts of distribution of child pornography.
