Suspect in Johns Creek suburb SWAT standoff appears in court

The man who was barricaded inside a suburban home, and arrested in a SWAT standoff earlier this month, is due in court Friday morning.

ALPHARETTA, Ga. – The man who was barricaded inside a suburban home, and arrested in a SWAT standoff earlier this month, is due in court Friday morning.

Brandon Jones has a preliminary hearing scheduled for at 9:30 a.m., for aggravated assault charges.

Police received reports of shots fired in the Old Woodland Entry area on March 9 around 10:30 a.m., Johns Creek Police spokesperson, Christopher Byers, said.

Responding officers found that a gunshot had been fired into a home at that address. The suspected gunmen then fled with another person, police said.

Investigators determined the suspect's identity because of a run-in he allegedly had with the victim over a debt that the suspect claimed was owed to him, police said.

Moments later, officers spotted Jones, at a house on Long Indian Creek Court in Alpharetta, Ga.

The Alpharetta SWAT team assisted the Johns Creek Police Department in working to take Jones and a second suspect, who had barricaded themselves inside a home in the cul-de-sac of the neighborhood, into custody.

Jones is scheduled for a plea and arraignment on April 10.
