Parents at Forest Park High School received a letter from principal Derrick Manning regarding a threat circulated via text message and reported by several students on Wednesday.
Manning's letter indicated the school's administrative team and school resource officers investigated the matter and dealt with it.
"The source of the matter in question was immediately addressed and investigated. All safety protocols and procedures were followed," the letter said, in part. "As always, the safety of our students is our highest priority."
Clayton County School System spokesperson Jada Dawkins said Wednesday afternoon the school had been notified of a threat via social media, and that while nothing came of threat, out of an abundance of caution, officials at the school investigated and informed parents as to what was going on.
