Top 10 public high schools in metro Atlanta

The company Niche examines state test scores, graduation rates, high school ratings, and other factors to come up with the list.

ATLANTA — The 2020 Best Public Schools list is out.

Niche - a company who researches and analyzes data - compiled the list ranking the nation's best schools. 

The Pittsburgh-based company said it used statistics and reviews from students and parents and data from the U.S. Department of Education for the rankings. They examined state test scores, graduation rates, high school ratings and other factors to come up with the list.

The website also allows you to narrow down the list and focus on a specific area. 11Alive looked at the rankings high schools in metro Atlanta.

Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science and Technology was at the top of the list. Niche said state test scores show that 99 percent of the students are at least proficient in math and 95 percent in reading.

The company gave the school an A+ in diversity, college prep, academics, and more.  

These are the top 10 public schools on Niche's list for this area:

  1. Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science and Technology  (District: Gwinnett County Public Schools)
  2. Northview High School (District: Fulton County Schools)
  3. Walton High School (District: Cobb County Schools)
  4. Alpharetta High School (District: Fulton County Schools)
  5. Lambert High School (District: Forsyth County Schools
  6. Chattahoochee High School (District: Fulton County Schools)
  7. South Forsyth High School (District: Forsyth County Schools)
  8. North Gwinnett High School ( Gwinnett County Public Schools)
  9. Johns Creek High School (Fulton County Schools)
  10. Cambridge High School (Fulton County Schools)
