Metro Atlanta schools make U.S. News & World Report best schools list

U.S. News & World Report released its top schools rankings on Wednesday.

The Gwinnett School of Mathematics is Georgia's top school, according to U.S. News & World Report, which released its 2018 rankings of the nation's top schools on Wednesday.

U.S. News & World Report started with more than 28,800 public high schools across all 50 states and the District of Columbia. A total of 500 high schools earned gold medals, while 2,211 received silver medals and 3,237 schools were warded bronze medals.

Here are U.S. News’ top 10 Georgia schools, and their school districts:

  1. Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science and Technology, Gwinnett County
  2. DeKalb School of the Arts, DeKalb County
  3. Columbus High School, Muscogee County
  4. Davidson Magnet School, Richmond County
  5. Savannah Arts Academy, Chatham County
  6. Cambridge High School, Fulton County
  7. Alpharetta high School, Fulton County
  8. Johns Creek High School, Fulton County
  9. Walton High School, Cobb County
  10. Northview High School, Fulton County
