School reports heating issues amid freezing November temperatures

The DeKalb County School District reported that they were aware of the problem and that they are working to fix the issue.

One DeKalb County school is reporting problems with its heating system as temperatures dip to freezing across the region.

The DeKalb County School District confirmed that there were heating issues in multiple rooms at Laurel Ridge Elementary School and that they are "diligently working on a solution."

Parents have since been notified of the issue and a spokesperson for the school district said repairs have already begun since the main office was notified on Tuesday.

In the interim, the school has placed space heaters in the impacted classrooms.

The news comes as metro Atlanta drops to the lowest temperatures so far in 2018. On Wednesday, the low was 31 degrees - lower with wind chill factored in - and the high was 46 degrees.

The school district has not released an estimated time for repairs to be completed.
