Fire investigators canvass apartment complex for clues in Peachtree Corners

PEACHTREE CORNERS, Ga. -- Fire crews are on the scene of an apartment fire in Peachtree Corners, officials confirmed Friday afternoon.

The fire was reported in the 3300 block of Park Lake Lane NW at Lakeside Retreat Apartments around 4:30 p.m. Crews arrived to find two apartments burning and fire spreading to the attic through the walls. They immediately deployed hose lines to protect exposed areas and control the fire.

It took about an hour to get the fire under control, during which time the two apartments received significant damage. Two neighboring units also had extensive water and smoke damage. Elsewhere in the building, other apartments had smoke damage.

About 32 people including adults and children were impacted by the fire. The American Red Cross has already gotten into contact with those forced out of their apartments by the fire. Luckily, residents had already begun leaving their apartments before firefighters arrived and there were no reported injuries.

Though the fire is out, the investigation into the cause continues. Fire investigators continue to comb through the debris, speak with residents and gather details from management.
