Grant program supports students with vision problems

Prevent Blindness Georgia received a $5,000 grant for the event at the Barack and Michelle Obama Academy.

Students with vision problems from the Sheltering Arms Centers in Atlanta received free eye exams and prescription glasses as part of a grant program from UnitedHealthcare.

Prevent Blindness Georgia received a $5,000 grant for the event at the Barack and Michelle Obama Academy.

Sheltering Arms Centers also received five new reading stations complete with UnitedHealthcare Children’s Foundation books to support its reading programs.

Each child who participated in the eye exam program received a free children’s book.

In addition to the screenings, UnitedHealthcare mascot Dr. Health E. Hound offered support and joined volunteers in providing eye health education, participating in reading circles and leading kids in fun exercises.
