DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — DeKalb County has updated its state of emergency order, issuing a shelter-in-place order.
The order goes into effect Saturday, March 28, at 9 p.m. and remains until further notice.
The order is in addition to items already in place since Monday, when the county banned public gatherings of 10 or more people and instituted a 10-person max capacity at certain businesses.
DeKalb CEO Michael Thurmond issued the original order March 23. It outlined how the county workforce would continue to provide services, county economic relief efforts and public health restrictions.

Public gatherings of 10 or more people in the county are now prohibited. Though the shelter-in-place order is in place, some necessary outings that are exempted include "trips to and from work, for medical treatment, food, medication or emergency."
